What Does COVID-19 Mean for Real Estate?

Remaining aware of what is happening and being armed with accurate information is crucial during this time. COVID-19 is changing the “normal” daily routine, but our local real estate market remains strong. Each and every person needs a place to call home, and it’s our mission to make sure that we’re serving you and our community by ensuring that the home buying and home selling processes are seamless and stress-free.

No matter what transpires, homes will continue to be bought and sold. They will continue to be wise investments that help build long-term wealth. Locally, showings and offers on listings remain strong, and buyers continue to take advantage of record-low interest rates, virtual tours, and virtual open houses.

Interest Rates: They’re Low! Should I Refi My Mortgage?

At the beginning of March, mortgage interest rates hit a historic low, dipping into the 2% range. To date, they’ve rebounded a bit due to the very high volume of mortgage refi applications last week, however, they’re still VERY low. As a general rule of thumb, if your current mortgage interest rate is at 4% or below, it’s not likely that a refi will benefit you, unless you decide to refi on a 15-year term. Buying or Selling: Going Virtual is Easy!

Buyers: If you’re looking to purchase a home, you’ll still receive the same high-quality service that you expect and deserve from Mallach & Company. We’ll conduct a Buyer’s Consultation virtually via Zoom, Skype, or Google Hangouts. It’s easy, and, together, we can still discuss your specific needs. We can also provide virtual tours of homes that fit your search criteria. Virtual open houses are also gaining popularity–who would have thought?! ingenuity is an amazing thing!

Sellers: If you’re considering selling your home, we’ll still be able to tour your home virtually using tools like Facetime or Google Meet. This information will help us put together an accurate Comparative Market Analysis (or, CMA) of your home, and that will help us price it appropriately. If your home is on the market currently, there are many tools we can share that will help you show your home virtually to buyers, including a virtual open house. These tools demonstrate to buyers that you’re doing your part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but that you’re still serious about selling your home.

How Can You Make a Difference in Your Community?

2. Remember to laugh. This won’t last forever.

3. Small business is the core of our community–support local businesses as much as you can.

4. Help local restaurants and shops by purchasing gift cards now that you can use later.

5. Lend a helping hand with the elderly in your neighborhood. Call to see if they need anything from the grocery store or pharmacy and offer to pick items up for them.

6. Be sure to always practice Social Distancing and remain 6 feet away from others.
