What’s New In and Around Crystal Falls: 2026–2027 Development Updates to Watch

Crystal Falls has long been one of Leander’s most sought-after communities, and its future continues to look exceptionally strong. Since our last development update, several projects have advanced from planning into active construction, while new commercial and infrastructure initiatives have emerged that will shape daily life here well into 2026, 2027, and beyond.

Here’s an updated look at what’s coming, along with why it matters for Crystal Falls homeowners, buyers, and investors.

Crystal Village: A Long-Term Mixed-Use Anchor (Now Through 2030)

Crystal Village remains the most transformative project along the Crystal Falls corridor. Located at 183A Toll Road and East Crystal Falls Parkway, this 65-acre mixed-use destination represents a long-term investment in lifestyle, convenience, and economic vitality for the area.

Recent and ongoing developments within Crystal Village include:

  • Culver’s, now open and serving the community
  • Southside Market & BBQ, bringing a Texas staple closer to home
  • Estancia Brazilian Steakhouse, adding an elevated dining option
  • Additional national and regional restaurant concepts anticipated as future phases roll out
  • The Evergrove luxury apartment community, currently leasing
  • Future retail, office, and gathering spaces planned across multiple phases

Rather than a single opening date, Crystal Village is intentionally being developed over time, with full build-out expected around 2030. This phased approach allows the area to grow thoughtfully while responding to demand.

For Crystal Falls residents, this means new dining, shopping, and services without losing the neighborhood feel that makes the community special.

The Square at Crystal Falls: Boutique Retail Arriving in 2026

Another highly anticipated project is The Square at Crystal Falls, a neighborhood-scaled retail and dining destination designed to serve nearby residents.

Construction officially began in 2025, and the project is expected to open in early 2026. Once complete, The Square will feature approximately 27,000 square feet of curated retail and dining space, intentionally designed to feel walkable, approachable, and locally oriented.

While tenants have not yet been formally announced, developers have emphasized a focus on everyday conveniences, dining options, and service-based businesses that complement the surrounding residential communities.

This project brings the kind of “grab a coffee, meet a friend, run an errand” lifestyle that many Crystal Falls residents have been eager to see closer to home.

Expanded Retail and Dining Along Crystal Falls Parkway

Beyond Crystal Village and The Square, Crystal Falls Parkway itself continues to attract significant commercial investment.

A $48 million retail, restaurant, and office development is underway along the parkway, adding approximately 150,000 square feet of new space. This project is expected to bring additional dining options, professional services, and employment opportunities directly into the Crystal Falls area.

In addition, new restaurant construction has been proposed along East Crystal Falls Parkway, including national fast-casual dining concepts expected to break ground in 2026.

These projects reinforce Crystal Falls as a self-sustaining community where residents can live, work, and dine without constant trips into Austin or Cedar Park.

Nearby Commercial Growth with Direct Impact on Crystal Falls

Several major developments nearby, while not inside Crystal Falls proper, will further enhance convenience and property appeal for residents.

A large retail and restaurant project known as Gabriel’s Horn has been registered with the state and is expected to begin construction in mid-2026, with completion projected around 2028. This development will introduce additional dining, retail, office, and potentially childcare uses to the broader Leander area.

Additional regional growth includes new grocery and restaurant concepts planned throughout Leander and nearby communities, further expanding options for Crystal Falls homeowners.

Infrastructure Improvements Supporting Long-Term Growth

As development accelerates, the City of Leander continues to prioritize infrastructure improvements to support traffic flow, safety, and long-term connectivity.

Roadway improvements along Crystal Falls Parkway and surrounding streets remain a key focus, particularly near school zones and high-traffic intersections. In addition, long-range transportation planning includes a proposed railroad bridge over Crystal Falls Parkway and US-183, aimed at improving safety and congestion management in the years ahead.

These infrastructure investments are essential to protecting quality of life as the area grows.

A Crystal Falls Resident’s Perspective

“As someone who has called Crystal Falls home for over 25 years and who leads Crystal Falls Local, it’s incredibly exciting to watch this area evolve so thoughtfully,” says Tina Mallach, broker and owner of Mallach & Company Real Estate.

“These projects aren’t just about growth–they’re about creating places where people can gather, connect, and enjoy everyday life closer to home. Crystal Falls has always had a strong sense of community, and these developments help strengthen that foundation while adding long-term value for homeowners.”

What This Means for Crystal Falls

For current homeowners, these developments translate to greater convenience, stronger neighborhood amenities, and continued demand that supports long-term property values.

For buyers, Crystal Falls remains a compelling choice thanks to its combination of established neighborhoods and forward-looking investment.

For investors, ongoing commercial growth and infrastructure improvements signal stability, desirability, and sustained momentum in one of Leander’s most proven communities.
